The short answer: it depends far more on what is included than on the headline number. Retreats in Goa span a very wide range, from basic shared-room programmes to small-group, fully inclusive island experiences, and two prices can describe completely different products. This guide explains what moves the price so you can compare like with like. We deliberately avoid quoting figures here, because they change with season and cycle; current pricing always lives on our live pricing section.
The five things that drive retreat pricing
1. Accommodation tier. This is usually the biggest single factor. A shared tent or dormitory costs meaningfully less than a private room or hut, and waterfront or beachfront settings tend to carry a premium over inland options. At Inward Action, a shared tent is the default, with private tent and private hut upgrades available. Huts are limited to two per cycle, so they are the scarcest option.
2. Duration. Per-day cost generally falls as the retreat lengthens, because setup and logistics are spread over more days. A week is rarely double the cost of a three-day stay.
3. Group size. Retreats that cap their groups usually cost more per person than those that maximise attendance. A group of around 15 to 25 means more individual attention from the facilitators, and that is reflected in the price. If you are weighing intimacy against budget, this is the trade-off to think about honestly.
4. What is included. This is where retreats differ most and where hidden costs live. Some bundle accommodation, meals, transport coordination, all sessions and activities. Others charge separately for nearly everything beyond a basic yoga class. A lower headline price with a long list of add-ons can end up costing more.
5. Season. Peak season in Goa, broadly the cooler dry months, tends to push prices up across the board because of demand rather than any change in what is offered. Shoulder months often provide the same programme for less.
A note on how Inward Action pricing works
Prices are set per retreat length and per cycle, and they rise by a small percentage each cycle as dates approach. Because of that, we do not print a number in articles; it would be out of date almost immediately. The live pricing section always shows the current rate for each format: the Full Moon Gathering, 3-Day Island Reset, 5-Day Island Awakening and 7-Day Signature Immersion.
What to compare between retreats
Use this checklist when you are looking at two or more options:
- Meals: Are all meals included? Are dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan) catered for?
- Transport: Is airport pickup or onward transfer included, or is it your responsibility? On an island retreat, ask about the boat crossing too.
- Sessions: Are breathwork, sound healing, ritual and activities included, or priced separately?
- Group size: Is the cap genuine, and what is the number?
- Accommodation: What exactly are you sleeping in, and who are you sharing it with?
- Pricing mechanics: Is the price fixed, or does it rise as the date approaches?
- Deposit and cancellation terms: What is paid upfront and what happens if plans change?
- Extras you might still pay for: Travel insurance, flights, visa, and personal spending.
Costs outside the retreat price
Whatever you book, budget separately for flights (fly into Mopa, not Dabolim, for this island), your visa if you are travelling from abroad, travel insurance that covers adventure activities, and any personal spending. If you are adding a few days of Goa travel before or after, those accommodation and food costs are your own.
Who each price level suits
- Budget-first travellers usually do best with shorter retreats and shared accommodation, which keep the total commitment down while still delivering the full programme.
- Comfort-first travellers may prefer a private tent or hut for the privacy, particularly on longer stays.
- Value-seekers should compare what is included before comparing prices. A bundled, small-group retreat can be better value than a cheaper one with add-ons.
Cost is not the only measure of whether a retreat suits you. If you are still deciding whether the time and money make sense for you, read our honest take on whether a Goa yoga retreat is worth it.
Warning signs when reading retreat pricing
A few patterns are worth watching for, whichever retreat you are considering:
- A very low headline price with meals, transfers or sessions listed as optional extras
- Vague descriptions of accommodation, with no mention of whether it is shared
- No stated group size, or a cap that is described loosely
- Pressure to pay immediately, with no chance to speak to a person first
- No clear explanation of the deposit or what happens if your plans change
A transparent retreat will explain all of this plainly, usually on a call, and will be comfortable with you comparing it to others.
How booking works
Booking is invitation-led. You request an invitation, a seat is held for 24 to 48 hours, you have a call with the team where you can ask anything about pricing and inclusions, and a deposit then confirms your place. There is no obligation until you decide to pay the deposit.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't you list prices in this article?
Prices change by cycle and retreat length, and a printed figure would go out of date quickly. The live pricing section is always current.
Is the price per person?
Pricing is set per guest. Ask on your call about any sharing arrangements or upgrades.
What is usually not included?
Flights, visa costs, travel insurance and personal spending are typically yours to arrange. The call with the team will confirm exactly what is covered.
Is it cheaper to book earlier?
Pricing rises each cycle, so booking for an earlier cycle can cost less than a later one. Check the live calendar for the current position.
Can I pay in instalments?
Ask on your call. The deposit confirms your seat, and the team can explain the payment schedule.
